Dear Budget Fashionista:
I just got a job where I need to wear high heels! My first question: for every day wear, I love my pair of Nine West peep-toes with a 2 3/4” heel. I haven’t had any luck, though, finding a “classic” shoe with that height heel (needed in black and ivory/light tan). Second question: I adore the shoe-trends this fall of menswear detailing, two-toned, and lace-up shoes. But all the ones I find have heels 3” or higher, and I’m really looking for 2.5-2 3/4. Any ideas? Thanks, as always, for the great site.
Answer: Most online shoe stores, like Endless.com and Zappos.com, allow you to search by heel height (along with color, price, width, etc). However, even with a tailored search you may have trouble finding mid-height heels in those colors outside stores like Naturalizers and Aerosoles as they aren’t as “in” right now.
Now in regards to this season’s hottest shoe, the high heeled oxford, look for a pair with a 1/2 inch to 1 inch platform which reduces the height of the heel. For example, a 3 1/4 inch heel is only 2 3/4 inch with a 1/2 inch platform.
