When everyone was doing colorful and bold fashion statements in the late 70’s, German fashion designer Jill Sander rocked the fashion world with the introduction of her minimalist designs. Relatively unknown until the 90s, Sander’s became the queen of minimalist style- which signature looks like coordinates, formal suits and coats, monochrome dresses and the onion look. In 2000, Sander left her own company after it was bought by the Prada group and returned briefly as head designer for the company in 2003. She is currently the design director of Japanese first fashion chain Uniqlo.
