A Midsummer Shoenista’s Dream: Sam & Libby for Target in May 2013

Winter has barely set in, and yet we’re already headlining summer season fashion prospects. While we seriously hate jumping the (fashion) gun as much as the next person, we can’t help but feel giddy about Target‘s announcement of an exclusive partnership with footwear hubby-and-wife team Sam and Libby Edelman. They were part of  our shoe racks while growing up in the late 80s, so any opportunity to revisit the decades-old brand definitely deserves a welcome mat. Plus, when a well-loved brand like Sam and Libby promises “elevated designs” and “celebration of contemporary fashion”, we know that they intend to deliver.

We don’t think the partnership is much of  a stretch of imagination–after all, Sam & Libby has been known for its affordable range of everyday shoes with a distinct designer appeal. In fact, we think that the powers-to-be at Brown Shoe Company couldn’t have picked a better market for their shoe brand relaunch: Target has been synonymous with oft excellent designer-mass market capsule collections over the years. The best part? Target says the partnership is ongoing, so chances are great that we’ll be seeing the brand in the Bull’s Eye retailer long after summer has come and gone.

The Sam & Libby for Target line is slated for a May 2013 release. The expected price point starts at just $24.99, and will offer 20 styles of footwear, ranging from  sandals and flats to patterned wedges and pumps.

Target promises samples of the collection this coming January, and we’ll be sure to share them with the readers as soon as they’re available.
