Californian fashion designer Rachel Roy launched her eponymous label in 2004 after making a name for herself as freelance stylist for music videos and magazines. A favorite of Oprah, Rachel Roy rose from an intern at Rocawear to become the company’s creative head designer for women and children’s division (she also married the company’s head- Damon Dash) and overseeing seven licensees. Roy’s line is focused on creating women’s wear for the modern-urban women by mixing feminine and modern point of view in her designs. In her designs she envisions all the fashionable women, who wants to dress up, be effortlessly elegant and confident, which results to clothing that have a fresh glamour look. In 2007, she was inducted into the CFDA as a new member. Recently, Roy launched an affordable diffusion line for the younger generation called Rachel Rachel Roy that will be sold exclusively at Macy’s, she also signed up for a joint venture deal with Jones Apparel Group Inc. to expand her business.
