What: According to Vogue, Spring 2010 marks the return of backpacks. Yes, the “student’s bag” has now invaded the fashion runways and are now being carried by Kanye West, Jay-Z and more.
Teen Vogue Says: “The ease of not worrying about a handbag or a weighty shoulder strap is a wonderful relief,” says Vogue fashion writer Florence Kane. Aside from their convenient hands-free nature, we like that backpacks are sturdy and have a tomboy edge…”
What We Say: We can’t remember the last time we had a backpack. Sure it’s comfortable, sturdy and convenient, but we’re not very sure that we want to look like students once more. Despite the new styles, we’re going to reserve our backpacks for hiking or traveling and just pass this trend on to teens. We’re waiting for an adult version of Garanimals.

Personally, I like smaller backpacks instead of purses/handbags. The double-strap makes it easier to tote along if you have your hands full. Granted, it may seem like a step back in time to grade school, but it can be handy for certain instances.
