Reader Advice: Best Belts on a Budget

| July 11, 2008 09:00 PM | Posted in , ,

For some, the belt is a minor wardrobe element—something that performs a function more than makes a style statement. But, as budget fashionistas, we should remember that a cute/trendy belt is one of the best ways to update those old pieces without shelling out big bucks. The problem is, sometimes finding a great belt that’s cheap, but doesn’t look cheap, is a challenge. Of course, Target is our go-to belt spot, but the selection is kind of hit-or-miss (though Angela has gotten some serious mileage out of this Xhilaration blue skinny belt, $9.99). So, style-savvy readers, any thoughts you’d care to share on where to get a great belt, for less?

Target is great, but yes, their selection can be spotty at times.  I’ve found some killer belts at Zara and Banana Republic on sale ...key words ON SALE, because normally their belts can be upwards of $50.  But by the time they hit the sale rack, they’re usually discounted by half.

I go to Beall’s Outlet for my belts and costume jewelery*. I found an adjustable, black leather skinny belt w/ silver accents for $4.99.

Bealls Outlets are open in AZ, FL, and GA with the majority of stores being in Florida.

*Occasionally you will find a buried treasure in the clothing deptartments, but it requires massive digging.
