Product Review: Sally Hansen Diamond Strength No Chip Nail Color, $4.75
July 23, 2007 05:34 PM

What: Sabina reviews a line of nail polish that dares to call itself “Diamond Strength,” which admittedly is a tough title to live up to.

The Low Down: It’s almost painful for me to write how disappointed I was after treating myself to a manicure with Sally Hansen Nail Color in Honeymoon Red. After all, Sally Hansen is a great brand, and I have a few other nail polishes by this company that I use quite faithfully. But the fact is, a nail polish that has “No Chip” in the product title shouldn’t start chipping in the first few hours after being used, but it did. And I don’t just mean little chips. I mean big ones shaped like bites on several nails after only a couple of days. Rather than try to touch up the color gaps like I normally would, I actually thought it would be better to remove the polish completely and start over.

Yea or nay: Nay. No chip should mean no chip.

I use the Diamond Strength nail polish and I swear by it. I have that same color (and about 8 others from that line) and in my experiences, they don’t chip until about 5 or 6 days after i polish my nails, which in my opinion, is pretty dang fantastic.

I’m sorry the nail polish didn’t work as well for you.  Perhaps you didn’t use a base coat?  I use the Diamond Strength Instant Nail Hardener base coat.

If your nails are brittle and bend easily, ANY nail polish will chip.

I do agree with you that no chip should mean no chip...so I guess the hunt continues. I love this site and look forward to the product reviews!

i LOVE OPI Chip Skip - I (yes, I gave myself a mani) wore it overseas (airport, taxis, hotels, cooking, cleaning, etc.) and not a chip. perfect the whole time. funny thing, it was only until I got home did the polish begin to chip. Amazing! Oh, and the trip lasted for 7 days.

Try it!

I have to agree with you.  I used some 3 days ago and it began chipping the next morning.  Also, the finish doesn’t seem to dry smoothly.  I won’t buy anymore...and I’m so disappointed because I loved the color.

I love the color,Resilient Red, but the no chip
claim is false. Within hours my nails looked
like I had been digging in gravel barehanded.
I hate false advertising.
