What: Robin attempts to erase her under-eye circles with Olay Definity Eye Illuminator, $28.99.
The Lowdown: Dark circles are a common beauty problem for many people (not to mention, a personal issue for myself) so it’s no wonder everyone and their mother in the beauty industry is trying to come up with the next greatest fix. This Olay product packaging states that it’s a dual action formula with Glucosamine complex which will “illuminate the complete eye area and smooth the look of fine lines and wrinkles” as well as “strengthen delicate eye skin, firming skin’s outer layers.” There’s even one of those cool pearlescent gel spirals in the bottle so it looks pretty serious. Upon application, my eye area is lighter and brighter, but that’s because of the white color of the gel. Apparently, that’s the “first action” working its magic. As far as the second? There seems to be a very slight difference, but nothing significant enough to make me want to spend almost $30.
Yea or Nay: Nay. This gel doesn’t really illuminate your eyes any more than adding some white shimmer powder to your eye cream would.
