What: Fingers and toes deserve to be pampered before the prom along with the rest of you.
The Word: According to a recent article in Waterbury, Connecticut’s newspaper, Republican-American, more and more prom going teens are spending big bucks on making sure even their nails look red-carpet worthy: “Years ago, nobody went tanning, had manicures, pedicures,” Toni Sills, owner of Giovanna’s Boutique in CT, says. “But the parents want to do it; it’s a special day and they want to make it memorable for the person that is going.”
Our Word: No doubt, a fresh manicure and pedicure can perfectly compliment your look. Our fave? An elegant, understated French manicure. No matter what your dress color, it looks pretty and clean. (A word to the wise: if you don’t already have acrylic nails, don’t go having them put on just for the prom! Not only are they expensive and can ruin your real nails, you’ll be fumbling with everything since they take time to get used to.) With so many DIY manicure sets available, such as Sally Hansen French Manicure Kit, $tk, you can save your cash for other stuff, like some spectacular strappy sandals to show off your fancy toes, not to mention, dance the night away in!

For a budget friendly French manicure (especially for one night) run over to Walgreens or CVS and grab a pack of “Broadway Nails” in a French or American Manicure color scheme. They are press on nails that are attached with nail glue, rather than the old school sticky tape.
The best part is, they look like a set of acrylics for a fraction of the cost. I swear by them in a pinch!

I tried Broadway and didn’t really like them. They fell off kind of easy and didn’t look as real as I would have liked. I prefer Nailene over Broadway. Nailene’s look much better and were easier to work with.
