Here’s another great reason to choose organic foods: organic kiwifruit has been found to be healthier than the conventionally grown fruits, according to a study by University of California-Davis scientists. The study, published in the journal Chemistry and Industry, showed that organically grown kiwifruit contains higher levels of polyphenols, the same healthy compounds found in red wine and colored berries. The organic versions also have more antioxidants, vitamin C and important minerals.
The world market for certified organic foods was estimated to be worth US$23-25 billion in 2003, and is growing approximately 19% annually. Now that’s news we can all cheer about!
