Olsens’ Denim Line Gets Flack

What: The Olsen twins have just launched Olsenboye, a pretty sweeping juniors collection, at JCP and previewed Textile Elizabeth and James, a 3-piece denim line and – well – the results are in. Looks like there’s not that much to get excited about, at least according to fashion bloggers. The 70s inspired denim collection, in particular, has gotten the most flack. Elizabeth and James will be available at stores like Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf in March.

What They Say:

The jeans draw inspiration from the ’70s, and include a bell-bottom, a low-slung style, and a cropped, high-waisted pair. We’re really not feeling the bell-bottoms, which look like any other mall-store find, or the very puzzling dark pocket impression on the low-slung pair. After this collection debuts in March, the Olsens are planning to roll out an entire lifestyle collection for Textile. But if this denim is any indication of what’s to come, we’re a little afraid of the next stage of Olsen world domination.

What We Say: We’ve seen both lines and we actually like the cheaper version at JCP MUCH better (full disclosure: JCP is one of our advertising partners), than the pricey line at Neimans.  We bet there are more old skool Olsen fans that shop at JCP than at Neiman Marcus. Plus, the JCP line is a great alternative to the Miley Cyrus/ Max Azria line at Wal-Mart (which we also liked as well and Wal-Mart is NOT an advertising partner).
