Target Adds More Prestige Beauty Designers

What: If you thought you were satisfied with Sonia Kashuk beauty products, wait until you get a look at Target’s new prestige cosmetics lines. Starting this month, three new beauty lines will be available at Target and Target.com. Below, a succinct summary of each line so you know what you’re getting into as you explore your local Target’s beauty aisles.

JK Jemma Kidd: Jemma Kidd is a makeup artist, product designer and entrepreneur from merry old England. Since her passion is glamorous runway fashion, style, and fabrics she aimed to translate the colors of fashion into her makeup. Her cosmetics line for Target enables women like us to look like models? Okay, maybe we can’t emulate supermodels because of some blush and eyeshadow, but the collection’s tools and colors will help us translate those bold colors and techniques to real life. Prices range from $14.00-$36.00—items include different types of lip gloss, mascaras, eyeshadows, foundations, concealers, bronzers and a curious product called the “Mannequin Skin Complexion Enhancer.”

NP Set: Napoleon Perdis hearkens from Australia, and his cosmetics are known for their simple luxury—he advocates natural makeup looks. Accessible and lighthearted seem to be the keywords, and the products seem more basic and ripe for experimentation. Prices range from $12.00-$30.00, and we like the sound of the NP Set Eye Palette—we’ll combine different eyeshadows with the Loose Dusts for a shimmery look. Unlike JK Jemma Kidd, there’s only one eyeliner and one mascara choice. The more streamlined collection allows for a lighter makeup bag, which we’re not opposed to.

Pixi by Petra: Makeup artist Petra Strand is from Sweden, and since we’re fans of ABBA, we’ll give her makeup a look. Each of her products is supposed to be beneficial for the skin while bringing out the beauty in all of us. The goal for her makeup is to enhance the beauty we already have (which we thought was the goal of all makeup anyway). This product line is straightforward, easy to use, and not fussy. With over 90 products, prices range from $12.00-$39.00. We’ll be interested to see how the Natural Mineral Kit compares to Sonia Kashuk or Boots, while the Rose Lip Treat sounds adorable. The Sparkle Stix seem a bit too juvenile for our taste, but we’ll want to see just how sparkly they really are.
