The Hunt for Kate Spade Coupons

This post may contain affiliate links*

Thanks to Dealspotr for collaborating on this post. All opinions are my own.

When I was nine-years-old, my mom bought me a pair of knock-off Vans at Payless — the iconic slip-ons in two-tone blue. Everyone on the playground was wearing them. And when I showed up with lookalikes, of course I got some lip from my classmates. (Snobby little buggers, right?)

That’s how I learned this life lesson: Lookalikes and knock-offs have their place, but there are times when only the real deal will do.

These days, I don’t care much whether the kids approve of my knock-off canvas shoes, but I wouldn’t dare carry around a fake Kate Spade bag. And there’s no need to, either. In our digital age, there’s always a way to pay less than full price. Combine a sale with an online discount code, for example, and that coveted bag can be mine for a slighty spendy, but still tolerable price.

This is the bag I’m after. I don’t want to pay $378 for it, so I went on the hunt for kate spade coupon codes. Here’s how it went down.

Email Me My Code

If you are new to kate spade new york, the simplest way to get a discount is to sign up for emails. When you visit katespade.com, you should get a pop-up invite that looks like this:

15% off plus free shipping is a nice deal. That takes the price of my $378 satchel down to about $320. I could stash $75 a month and have that bag paid for by December. Happy holidays to me!!

So that’s a workable plan for your first kate spade purchase, but what happens next? Once you use your 15% sign-up perk, are you relegated to full-price for all of time? Well, to answer that question, let’s do some digging.

Googling for Discounts

My go-to for coupons and discounts is DealSpotr. I typically don’t even bother with Googling for codes anymore, because it’s usually a waste of time. But for the sake of research, I’ll go that route and see what turns up.

The initial search results for ‘kate spade coupon code’ actually do look promising:

Right away, my eyes go to the second listing above that mentions a 30% discount with code GOLDEN. I click over to my cart with the satchel in it and try to snag that 30% off. Denied:

OK, so there must be some terms and conditions somewhere stating how to use that code, but it’s clearly not a sitewide deal.

There are several more avenues to try, though, most of which are coupon sites like Coupons.com, RetailMeNot and CouponCabin.

Coupons.com

Coupons.com, according to its Google listing, promises up to 60% kate spade. I like the sound of that. But when I click through to the site, I don’t see anything other than what I already know. The 15% off I got for subscribing to emails is listed, but it links to the email sign-up page. So if I’ve already signed up (which I have), that discount isn’t available to me. The GOLDEN code is listed also, but this only applies to sale items. And that 60% mentioned in the Google listing? Here’s what that looks like:

Kate spade 60% off sale with free shipping

All this means is that some items on the kate spade website are already marked down to 60% off. That’s not terribly useful to me, because I’ve already been to the site and browsed the sale items. And the bag I want isn’t on sale. Thanks Coupons.com. You just wasted my time.

RetailMeNot

RetailMeNot is a huge player in the online discount game, so I did expect to find something more there. Alas, no. This site had basically the same stuff as Coupons.com, plus a few extra sale notifications which are already listed on the kate spade website.

CouponCabin

CouponCabin’s kate spade page looks interesting at first. The same discounts are listed as on the other two sites, but there’s one more that stands out: an exclusive 15% bonus on everything. A look at the fine print reveals that this is a rebate paid by CouponCabin after you make your purchase, and the maximum cash back is $20. On a $378 bag, the $20 ends up being about 5% off instead of 15%.

At this point, you might be considering setting up a new email account and re-subscribing to kate spade to get another 15% off code. The things we do to save a few bucks, right?

Dealspotr

I’ve gone hunting for coupon codes many, many times, and it almost always turns out the same way. I can sign up for emails to get a single-use code and then I’m pouring over coupon sites that just don’t have many real, usable discount offerings. That’s exactly why I’m such a fan of Dealspotr. Yes, Dealspotr has all the same codes you’ll find on other sites. But Dealspotr also has some unique features that give me access to deals I can’t find elsewhere.

Single-use codes. You know that 15% coupon you get when you sign up for kate spade emails? That’s a single-use code, meaning once you use it, it doesn’t work anymore. Dealspotr allows its members to upload single-use codes, while other coupon sides don’t. Yes, the code can only be used by one person, but Dealspotr usually has many posted at one time.

Just now, I counted 12 single-use, 15% off promo codes on Dealspotr. That means I can buy that satchel and maybe another one next year without worrying about losing my precious 15% off.

Third-party codes. In addition to the single-use codes for kate spade, Dealspotr also has third-party codes. These are codes for other retailers that sell kate spade products. An example is a deal for 20% off your kate spade purchase from Belk. I did not see this type of deal anywhere on the other coupon sites.

Friends and family codes. Dealspotr also allows the community to add referral codes to the site. These codes are usually for friends and family discounts.

You can see all of Dealspotr’s kate spade codes here.

Dealspotr Secret Sauce

Dealspotr has a very active community of bargain shoppers, including yours truly, who keep the discounts, promo codes and sale listings current. The site rewards us for adding codes and validating codes — so when we go looking for discounts, we can easily find some that work. This is why so many people are willing to give up their single-use kate spade code to Dealspotr, because they’re making some money on the side for contributing.

I am a Dealspotr member who uses the discounts and makes a bit of cash for helping others save. If you’d like to join me in the Dealspotr community, sign up here.
