Mossimo Spring 2009 Collection for Target Offers Affordability, Plus Sizes, and California Chic

The Warning Label: The popular flowy, tiered tops don’t necessarily go with the Mossimo loose bermuda shorts and chunky wedge heels.  Be careful when pairing loose clothing; considering breaking up the silhouette with some fitted straight leg jeans, narrow gladiator heels or sandals with thin straps.

And, of course, check out the Mossimo for Target line in person, first.   Spring is the perfect time to market bold, bright new colors that we all want for our closets.  But, Spring is also the time for mass produced cheap (aka “affordable”) lightweight fabrics that don’t cost a lot to make. That being said, we think Mossimo is perfect for on trend items at a price that will allow you to maximize your cost per wear (See: Fashion Advice: The Cost Per Wear Ratio).

Unfortunately, it sounds like they’re going to try to sell us clothes that look like the rest of the plus-size clothes on the market. Yet another store to cross off my list.

It is getting a bit ridiculous. I hate to start any fires but the words ‘separate but equal’ come to mind. Is it really so offensive to a store or designer to simply create the same outfits they put such loving effort into and make the sizes go up to the plus size line? The plus size options invariably all have the same look. Flowy top – in plain and floral pattern, fitted pants – in various blues and blacks, add a t-shirt and that’s it.

At least Mossimo is making a plus size. I need petite sizes and almost no one makes them. I bet Mossimo doesn’t have any pants for the short waisted ladies like me. The petite pants are the first things that sell out when Banana Republic has a sale.

Shopping at Target just hasn’t been the same after Isaac Mizrahi switched over to Liz Claiborne. At first I was upset, but after looking over the new line he put out, I am really impressed. I never thought Liz Claiborne of all brands would have clothes and accessories that I would be interested in, but they do. Its amazing what Isaac has done, just amazing. I believe they have a petite and plus-size line as well. So many cute things!!
