Mobile Holiday Shopping Study

Apparently, our multi-functional smart phones aren’t being used for just texting and late night sessions of Angry Birds.  According to IBM’s Smarter Commerce study for the 2011 Holiday season, mobile shopping doubled in the month of December.

-11% of online sales were via mobile.

-Apple’s iPhone and iPad ranked one and two for mobile device retail traffic.

-Apparel sales increased 16.3% from last year.

Yup – I love the convience of shopping on my mobile phone!! Especially since stores like Nordstrom, Macy’s, The Limited, etc. either have applications or mobile sites that are BETTER than their internet websites!! I also shop the sample sale mobile sites too (ideeli, Rue Lala, Gilt and MyHabit)!!

Interesting statistics! I do a lot of online shopping, but have not purchased from my phone. It is amazing that mobile shopping increased 9% in just one year. How great is it that we can shop anytime, anywhere?
