What: Mandy Moore’s fashion line Mblem, which got its start with vintage tees in 2005, is finished.
What Moore Says: “If I were to dip my toe back in there, it would have to be the right situation … a great partnership that could represent a true reflection of me and my ideas and you know that wasn’t happening.”
What We Say: Mandy Moore had a fashion line?!? Maybe the reason we didn’t realize this is because she created it four years ago and probably didn’t think about it much after that. Being a designer’s not so easy, is it? You’ve actually got to hang in there and see things through. Whether or not the economy played a factor is a little mysterious, but regardless, this is one “goodbye” we fashionistas won’t cry about.
Seems the celeb/fashion combo just isn’t working anymore. Will you miss Mblem?

I’ve totally heard of this line; it’s been both heavily covered in the entertainment mags (like US Weekly and People) as well as fashion pubs like InStyle. and I’ve also seen Mblem up close and personal in trendy boutiques. Mandy’s designs were cute, and you could tell they used quality fabrics, but it sounds to me like she either got bored with the endeavor or it wasn’t profitable to keep afloat anymore.
We’re going to see a lot of celeb line go away, mostly because slapping the name of a celebrity on a piece of clothing doesn’t guarantee it will sale.
In any event who wants to pay a ghastly $187 for a pocket dress? Im sorry but thats just not going to happen. At least not for me. Perhaps if Mandy had made her price point a little lower to accomadate her fan base (whom are teens and early 20 somthings) her line would have been a little more fruitful.
