I’m an avid shopper but despite that fact, I have yet to purchase a designer handbag, mainly because I eschew logos. I’m not against them per se, but it seems like everyone and her mom is carrying a Coach or Dooney & Bourke purse nowadays. If I ever were to purchase a designer purse, I would like a well-designed one that doesn’t have a logo splashed all over it.
Quality and design are important, splashing a brand name all over is not. I find it kind of tacky.
I do not own a single thing that has writing or a logo on it; I figure if someone wants me to do their advertising for them, then they can pay ME!
I agree with the other commenters - logos are tacky and gauche! I just feel embarrassed for people who shell out hundreds for a teeny ID holder or key chain just because it says Louis Vuitton or Fendi on it. The logo takes up the whole item! Don’t even get me started on the Coach sneakers!(Side note: I would recommend the book Deluxe: How Luxury Lost Its Luster for anyone interested in the luxury goods industry) But! I am really torn because I looooooove the shape and weight of the non-leather Coach Carly bag… but it’s covered in logos! I’ve been going back and forth about buying it for a good 9 months now.
