Fashion Joins the The Light It Up Blue Campaign for Autism


The color blue has been making waves in the fashion world for the past few seasons. Kate Middleton reigned over fashion headlines globally with her iconic blue ISSA engagement dress. Stella McCartney is dressing the British Olympic Team in various shades of blue for the upcoming London 2012 Olympics.

Now come April 2, blue will make waves yet again. Autism Speaks, the world’s largest autism science and advocacy organization, is launching the Light It Up Blue campaign. They’re literally shining the spotlight on the issue by illuminating 2,000 iconic buildings and landmarks in more than 220 US cities and 28 countries in breathtaking blue lights!

Friends from the fashion industry who’ll be participating include: Lord & Taylor locations across the nation, Saks Fifth Avenue, Judith Ripka and Tommy Hilfiger stores on NYC’s Fifth Avenue as well as Ralph Lauren Men’s flagship store at 867 Madison Avenue. Aside from lighting up blue, these fashion-forward areas will display promotional posters, while employees and mannequins will wear pins in honor of those who are affected by autism.
