We here at TBF raise a glass of frothy, low-fat, eggnog to the superb Lanvin for H&M collection, which is redefining what I like to call “Budget Couture” (high-end designers creating lower priced mass market lines). Unlike previous H&M designer collabs, in which designers merely made their higher end designs in cheaper fabric (rayon acetate DOES NOT move the same as silk jersey), it seems that bff-designer-in-our-head Alber Elbaz actually thought about the limitations posed by creating a “fast fashion” line and created designs that fit the mass market environment. The result? A winning budget couture collection.
