What: Kristen Davis, “Charlotte” from Sex and the City, launches a better priced line (translation: $30-$240) for the southern department store Belk.

The actress is partnering with Belk Inc., the Charlotte, N.C.-based retailer, to launch a Kristin Davis better-priced line. The exclusive line, which will be carried in 126 of Belk’s 307 doors for fall and then expand into more than 200 doors for spring, will have the biggest launch in the history of the $3.82 billion retailer, which celebrated its 120th anniversary last week.

What Kathryn Says: I love Kristen Davis, any actress who allows her character to poop in her pants is tops in my book. However, I’m not sure why she should have a clothing line. I mean, at least Sarah Jessica plays a fashionista and hires fabs stylists in real life. I’m not sure this was the best move for her, now a line of housewares or kids clothing (which is more in tune to her SATC character) might be nice. But this fashion line with Belks reeks of an over zealous management team trying to desperately expand a stars brand before the SATC hoopla dies down.  Regardless, I’m still routing for her.
