Katie Holmes Fashion Line- Suri the New Fashion Icon?

Katie Holmes Little Girls Line

What: Katie Holmes has been dropping hints about her designing ambitions for a while now; her and stylist Jeanne Yang collaborated on some individual pieces in the past, but the pair hasn’t had the guts to take it to the next, more professional level. In the latest issue of Glamour Magazine, though, Katie finally admits to working on a girls’ clothing line, inspired by her own little girl, Suri.

What Katie Says:

“Jeanne Yang and I have been working together. We started about a year ago, sketching different things, trying to find comfortable clothing for our daughters that is also pretty and cute… We both grew up with mothers who sewed.”

What We Say: We like that Katie’s been hush hush about her designing efforts because it seems humble of her, and for some reason, we’re just not totally annoyed by this most recent celeb/fashion combo. Katie’s taking cues from her and Tom’s adorable daughter, little Suri. Because no one’s giving out any concrete information about when and where the line would launch, we’re guessing Katie and Yang are still a bit unfocused, or perhaps nervous about stepping into the unstable retail industry.

We say, avoid the upscale boutiques and take your line to WalMart or better yet, Children’s Place.

This is interesting to me.  On a blog that I had a while ago I wrote about how I considered Katie Holmes to be well on her way to becoming a fashion icon. I just saw this stunning transformation from this little girl, who honestly people did not take her image seriously.

But, from marrying Tom Cruise, her Image totally changed., We began to take her seriously, and her life demanded attention, so her image had to demand that as well. Before Katies’s transformation, people would not have been open to the idea, or should I say we would have not believed the idea, that this frumpy, innocent looking girl, had any design concept in her head, when in the past, fashion looked like it was the furthest thing from her mind.

I am sure that because her image now has received such positive attention, she feel safe announcing the desire to step into the fashion industry.
