Brand Buzz: Lagerfeld Plus Department Store = Affordable Style?

While we’re still awaiting the arrival of Simply Vera by Vera Wang at Kohl’s, here’s another nugget to chew on: apparel vendor Regatta Pacific Alliance (behind the development of brands like Nicole Miller, Metro 7, and Daisy Fuentes) is said to be working on a collection with Karl Lagerfeld. According to WWD, the eye is on department store distribution, with price points in the $50-$250 range.

Regatta was recently snapped up by Li & Fung USA, possibly meaning many more collaborations (read: brand developments hooking up designers and major department stores) in the offing. Which we all know can be a godsend, or a horrible disappointment. We’ll keep you posted.

Interesting that you titled this Lagerfeld Plus Department Store. Lagerfeld complained publicly about having to design larger sizes (up to around a 16) for his H&M collection.

I agree about the title being interesting! I will never buy anything of his, as to not support someone who doesn’t want to design for my size (14). I “heard” that he used to be heavy…any truth to that?
