What: Put on your shades, because makeup colors are going neon.

What the experts say: Bright orange, leafy green, chalky pastels, sky blues and every shade of pink painted runway models in the Spring 2008 fashion shows, according to this month’s Vogue magazine. “It was a mad spring,â€? says Pat McGrath, makeup artist who masterminded the look at 22 shows including Prada and Dior. “Everyone seemed to be so brave. People really wanted to push the envelope and enjoy makeup.”

What we say: Here’s to color! After recently reporting on the emerging “white makeupâ€? trend, this homage to color is fun, fearless and feminine. And with spring and summer in the wings, this trend should stick around for a while. So any high voltage hues you pick up would be a good investment (check out L’Oreal Paris HIP Intensity Pigments for Eyes and Lips.) Your best bet when playing with bright colored makeup is to pick one item to play with—whether it be green shadow, blue liner or pink lipstick—and keep the rest of your face neutral. Otherwise, the results could be scary.
