What do you get if you mix muted grays and blacks, faux fur trims and a celebrated 19th century novel? Uh, a new collection at Banana Republic, of course. The chic-but-affordable retailer has unveiled a capsule collection of Anna Karenina inspired clothes and accessories, just in time to coincide with the upcoming film remake of Tolstoy’s classic, starring Kiera Knightley.
Pieces in the collection are largely black (with some deep reds thrown in for dramatic good measure), and include military inspired shapes, lace dresses, beaded clutches, feathered hair accessories and pearl and crystal costume jewelry made modern. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the collection is expected to be available for purchase in October, with the film to be released in November.
Is it wrong that, despite the sort of dreary palette and tragic inspiration, the idea of giant faux fur hats and dressing like Kiera Knightley got us REALLY excited for fall? Well, if it’s wrong, we don’t want to be right.
