With superstorms, Arctic blasts and rain popping up all over the place, it’s safe to say we’re waiting not-so-patiently for warmer spring weather. Yeah, it’s only January and we’re not even halfway through winter yet — but we say it’s time to will in spring with some forward-thinking fashion. And what brewing trend speaks of spring? Stripes of course!

Playful yet polished lines are associated with warmer weather, plus they super flattering too. And, stripes transcend beyond tops, dresses and the old navy-white combo. A bit of online shopping uncovers a variety of stunning stripes, from shoes to headbands and everything in between.

As for budget, of course we admire the Gucci or Dolce & Gabbana striped pieces we’ve been seeing, but the four-digit price tags cause our hopes, and bank account, to sink. Not to worry. Here are 11 affordable and flattering choices for stripe-lovin’ ladies.

11 Striped Pieces to Brighten Your Day

Striped Jumpsuits

To make a big statement, try a striped jumpsuit. Reach for the wide-legged version, as this silhouette is somewhat classier than its counterpart, the catsuit-style, skinny leg jumpsuit. A belt at the waist adds shape and makes your legs look long and lean.

Striped Pants

If the full-body stripe is too much, striped wide-legged pants with a high-waist offer a similar cosmopolitan feel. And while the model below looks amazing in a matchy top, feel free to combine your striped pants with a solid-colored top that provides more coverage.

A striped skinny pant creates a saucier look for sure. Pair this style with a solid-colored, loose-fitting blouse and low-heeled shoes.

You can easily dabble in stripes in the winter, without raising too many eyebrows — just go dress shopping. Dresses are the most common vehicle for fashion stripes, and the style and color options are plentiful. A wide, horizontal stripe staring navy and creme is a timeless stripe design, but you can also nod to current trends by mixing in some cold shoulder and/or ruffles.

Striped Blazer

A lightweight, striped blazer is an outfit-maker for sure. Slip this piece on with jeans, t-shirt and a nice pair of heeled boots or pumps and you’ll instantly have style cred with friends and family.

Flirty Striped Skirt

The beauty of the ruffle trend is that it modernizes all of our old style favorites. Add a ruffle to the hemline of a simple pencil skirt and you have a new, flirty look that easily goes from work to happy hour.

Your feet can get in on the striped action too — or, they can carry the striped style statement all on their own. Two of our favorite options are the stock-style boots with the ankle stripes and the striped-all-over mules. You can also find various striped canvas sneaker options too, but they’re relatively uninspiring. If you’re going to wear striped shoes, the old adage applies: go big or go home.
