Ross return policy

Ross does not sell product online, so that makes the store’s return policy easier to comprehend. There’s no return shipping or return shipping fee. All returns are done in a Ross store. Go here to find a store near you.

Timing: 30 days

To be eligible for a refund, you must bring your merchandise back to a Ross store with the original receipt within 30 days of purchase. You also must have your photo ID on hand.

If you miss the 30-day window, you may be able to exchange your merchandise or get store credit only. Note that Ross stores reserve the right to refuse returns on certain types of merchandise after 30 days if you don’t have the original receipt.

Your merchandise must be in new condition, unworn, and unaltered. Fine jewelry, swimwear, and lingerie items can be returned in the 30-day window, but only if they have the original ticket attached and you have the original receipt.

If you don’t have the receipt, Ross may refuse your return — even for store credit. The official return policy doesn’t specify product categories that could be nonreturnable. So it’s safest to assume that you need the receipt or there’s a chance your return will be denied. That’s the best way to protect yourself.

Refunds when you’re returning an item to Ross

Credit card purchases are refunded to your card account. If you paid by check, you will get a cash refund — but only after a five-day waiting period.

Exchanges at Ross

Take your item into your nearest Ross store with your receipt to exchange it for something else.

To return something to Ross, start by making sure the merchandise has the tags on it and you have the original receipt. Take everything plus your photo ID to a Ross store within 30 days of purchase. Most of the time, that should be enough to get you a full refund to your original form of payment.

Note that Ross does use a return verification system, which means they track your return patterns. If you are returning items often, the store may deny your return request.

Editor’s note: I don’t buy things from Ross anymore because the in-store staff can be combative and rude about returns. See the comments below.

Bought two pairs of shorts for my son, he didn't like it so I thought I would return it for store credit. Take if to Ross only to have the cashier rudely inform me that I can only have 3 items returned a year without a receipt, seriously, who made this up? 3 not 4 not 5 but 3 a year. So now I have only 1 more return this year without a receipt (ridiculous). With all of the competition out there you would think that customer satisfaction would be more important to Ross Store. So now I buy me a pair of dark glasses with this store credit and get to my car and as I'm cleaning it I notice 2 really large scratches on it so I take it back and ask if I can exchange it for one with no scratches (Whew, I had my receipt, so still one more item to go) as I am leaving the register I see the cashier take the security device that was on my new pair of glasses and she put it on the SCRATCHED pair of glasses that I returned. Check those glasses out very carefully before you buy it from Ross.

Just tried to return something today at a Ross store. Purchased the item 10/29/12. Today is 11/29/12. They said they could not refund my credit card because it was purchased 30 days ago. That I would have to be given store credit. I told them it is within the 30 day return policy for my refund and their reply was it is really a 29 day return policy. The back of the receipt says 30 day return/refund in original form of payment. What kind of BS is this.?? I think my short lived shopping at Ross is finished now.

There are more than 30 days between 10/29 and 11/29 because there are more than 30 days in the month of October. You were two days over the alleged 30 day limit. Hope that helps.

All products at ROSS are defective, especially garments. However, ROSS Stores trick us to believe they are selling such good deals. Be aware as I bought some dented and scratched chairs, then I saw them brand new online with free shipping for less than in ROSS. When I wanted to return those chairs at ROSS, they refused to give me are refund; they were claiming that the sale was final because the items were "as is". They never explain that the sale was final to me when purchasing those chairs. I guess that is my punishment for keep buying at such crappy store (ROSS)... I will stop buying there. Instead I will go to Marshals, or TJX, or Homewoods where they make refunds even if you buy furniture "as is"
