I use vinegar to clean a lot of things: coffee pot, plastic play pool, etc.
Recycle,recycle and recycle.
I love eco-friendly home cleaners! I’m constantly finding ways to be more environmentally friendly, and cleaners is one area I struggle with since the earth-friendly stuff can be expensive.
I have two large canvas bags—one stays in my car and the other by the front door. Every time I go shopping, even if it’s the mall, I take the canvas bag. Everything goes in it and I save bags. The second bag is so that when I return home, I set my purse by the door and pull out the second bag immediately. That way, I can’t forget to return it to the car!
Carpool. I’ve been doing it for 2 years. It takes some getting used to, but it is well worth it.
I use baking soda to remove soap scum in the shower.
Unplug the TV at night before you go to sleep. It saves a surprising amount on energy costs.
I recycle, turn off all the power strips before going to bed, and try to reuse things (particularly gift packaging and scrap paper).
Walk! Not only saves gas and reduces emissions, but great exercise and therapy!
My 08 New Years resolution was to be more green so I began cleaning the house with alternative products such as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice. It works great and is less expensive than conventional cleaners.
I use baking soda to clean the bathroom.
Be mindful when shopping to buy items unpackaged or lightly packaged.
take public transportation everywhere! I don’t even own a car
Set your default print settings to double-sided. Better yet, speak to your company’s IT dept about making double-sided printing the default company-wide. Also, try to send documents in PDF form, rather than making copies.
One of the simplest things I do is to just keep reusable shopping bags in my car, purse or schoolbag so I’ll always have a few ready for any spontaneous shopping.
Don’t flush unless its brown! (I also walk to work, recycle and use reusable grocery bags.)
I recycle everything I can
I use recyclable totes for groceries. And I tell the cashier that “I don’t need a bag” if the item is small enough to fit into my purse.
after working at whole foods, i learned all about the beauties of composting, and that sometimes recycling just isn’t enough.
Fashion-related eco tip… I shop at thrift stores. Reduce consumption!
Recycle, walk, use reusable shopping bags, natural cleaners, etc etc etc
