From now until Dec. 31st, Kathyrn and the gang at TBF will be giving away daily prizes to lucky TBF winners. Check back everyday at 9am to enter.

At midnight, one lucky TBF reader will win this prize, from Eco-Me.

The Prize: Eco-Me Home Cleaning Kit

It contains reusable/recyclable containers, microfiber cloths & scrub brush, and Home Blend Essential Oil Mix (not exactly sure what that is, but it contains plant oils like Lemongrass. We like Lemongrass). You just supply the vinegar, olive oil and baking soda.

I love eco-friendly home cleaners! I’m constantly finding ways to be more environmentally friendly, and cleaners is one area I struggle with since the earth-friendly stuff can be expensive.

I have two large canvas bags—one stays in my car and the other by the front door.  Every time I go shopping, even if it’s the mall, I take the canvas bag.  Everything goes in it and I save bags.  The second bag is so that when I return home, I set my purse by the door and pull out the second bag immediately.  That way, I can’t forget to return it to the car!

Carpool. I’ve been doing it for 2 years. It takes some getting used to, but it is well worth it.

I recycle, turn off all the power strips before going to bed, and try to reuse things (particularly gift packaging and scrap paper).

My 08 New Years resolution was to be more green so I began cleaning the house with alternative products such as vinegar, baking soda, and lemon juice. It works great and is less expensive than conventional cleaners.

Set your default print settings to double-sided.  Better yet, speak to your company’s IT dept about making double-sided printing the default company-wide.  Also, try to send documents in PDF form, rather than making copies.

One of the simplest things I do is to just keep reusable shopping bags in my car, purse or schoolbag so I’ll always have a few ready for any spontaneous shopping.

I use recyclable totes for groceries. And I tell the cashier that “I don’t need a bag” if the item is small enough to fit into my purse.
