H&M Launching Organic Skin Care Line

What: The retailer we love to love, H&M, has got its eggs in a ton of baskets right now. Its latest venture? Organic skin care. This March, shoppers will be able to purchase organic body scrub, lotion, lip balm, and hand cream from H&M stores. How organic are the product ingredients, which include apple juice and sunflower seed oil? Organic enough to get approval by ECOCERT, an organization in Europe that’s an authority on stuff like that.

What They Say:

“It felt like a natural step, since we’ve worked with organic cotton garments for a few seasons now. There’s also a strong demand from our customers for organics, and I hope they will be as excited as I am about the new products,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M’s head of design.

What We Say: Since the entire line’s under $8 and it’s got that whole “environmentally-friendly” thing going for it, we’re totally on board. However, the real question is going to be how the company distinguishes itself from all the other eco lines. Are you digging H&M’s attempts at eco-friendly trend setting?

Are you digging H&M’s attempts at eco-friendly trend setting? Nope.
If you buy organic buy from the companies that care have have been pushing organic skin care and products for years, not the big high street trying to jump on the band wagon and trying to make quick cash

I think this will wind up being an impulse purchase for people already in there with the intention of buying clothes — the same way they might pass a stand of belts on the way to checkout and decide at get one at the last minute. But it still may be profitable, as I can see them placing a rack of body lotion right by the cashier and selling a few every hour at least.
