Support this Cause: Hairdressers Unlocking Hope

Good causes are always in style, and here’s your chance to get in on the ground floor of this one.

“Hairdressers Unlocking Hope” is the brainchild of hair guru Vidal Sassoon and founder Mary Rector-Gable. The partnership, along with support from a multitude of beauty brands and iconic stylists, is kicking off a campaign to build 18 Habitat for Humanity homes this November, in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, for victims of the 2005 Gulf Coast Hurricanes.

So how can you help? Get a new do! During the week of Aug. 22-29, as the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina approaches, more than 1,500 salons nationwide will participate in a fund-raising effort for the cause. Now’s your chance to get those sun-damaged locks in shape and top off your karma fund at the same time.

And if you want to wear your heart on your sleeve, so to speak, pick up one of the Vidal Sassoon limited edition tees, an “unlocking hope” key necklace, or a Hairdressers Unlocking Hope tote online; 100 percent of the profit will support the efforts of the Hairdressers Unlocking Hope Campaign.
