Beauty Trend: Gray Eye Shadow

What: Smoky, smoldering gray eye shadow is taking the makeup counters by storm.

What the experts say: This from “Wear a rich, pigmented [gray] for a night club look, or go for a sheer wash of gray during the day,” says celebrity makeup pro Napoleon Perdis.

What we say: Okay, so going gray may sound a bit dull and drab, but adding a touch of this “it” color along the crease of your lids, can enhance your natural eye structure and be a refreshing change from your makeup drawer staples of gold and taupe. (And we emphasis on “touch” here–too much of this new hue and you’ll look like you actually got socked in the eye). Revlon makes this gray eye shadow quad, for $6.99, that allows you to blend around until you find the right shade of gray for you. To play up your smokin’ lids, add a thin line of black or charcoal gray liner just above your lash line and swipe two coats of black mascara to your top lashes and one to your bottom. Then, keep the rest of your face nude and matte.

I absolutely love the smoky eye look. I haven’t seen it on dark skin, unless I’ve overlooked it in the fashion mags so thanks for sharing. I like the fact that it’s all about her eyes and her cheeks and lips are nude. I wonder what would happen if I tried to re-create this look. I’ve never gone smoky before 😉
