What: Rebellious black lips took center stage at London’s fall fashion week.

The Word: You name it, London Fashion Week had it. But according to The Daily Mail, goth lips, which added shock value to the shows of designers Julian MacConald, Nathan Jenden, Ossie Clark and Inbar Spector, made a definite impact: “[The black] added a hard edge.�

Our Word: Here is the perfect example of runway for runway sake. Unless you’re of the Marilyn Manson persuasion, black lips will get you a lot of looks on the street, but not much else. If you like the contrast of a pale face paired with a dark lip, a more realistic and “pretty� approach is to swipe on a dark purple or wine lipstick instead. Forgo blush and keep eye makeup minimal.
