Another tip: I don’t know if this applies to all Salvation Army stores, but the one near me takes an extra 10% off the price each day on certain colors of price tags. There’s a calendar by checkout that shows the days each color is on special.
This is an amazing bargain. I once got a foldable table for three dollars in a thrift fair—it was fun buying it and it was fun using it. Double the gratification.
Flea markets are a great resource, too. I have a very large painting in my dining room that looks reminicent of a Mogdiliani. I got it at the flea market for 20-bucks (I talked them down from $30) and then got a gorgeous $10 frame from the thrift store to put it in.
