Dear Budget Fashionista,
I’m going to visit my family in the UK during Christmas time. It rains there a lot, and I was wondering where I could find an affordable raincoat in the US (Do they even still sell raincoats in the US?)

Dear Rainy Expat-
Although it’s a bit difficult to find the traditional, plastic/rubber raincoats of our youth, you can find several waterproof, “all weather coat”, trench style coats at your local off priced department store. Check out Marshalls, Tj Maxx, Ross and the outlets Off Fifth and Last Call, for great deals on all weather coats from Drizzle, Gallery, Anne Klein, and London Fog. Also shop online at stores like Spiegel.com, LandsEnd.com, and Eddie Bauer. Plan to pay between $30 to $50 for a stylish coat at one of these stores.

yes it rains often in the UK, but seldom more than a steady drizzle, which means that your regular coat and an umbrella will do just fine. If you do decide you need one when you get there, try Marks and Spencer, the UK’s biggest chain, on every High Street. (I was born and brought up there…..)
