New York Fashion Week always makes us giddy. We love eyeing up every detail right down to nail trends. This past year saw us through all kinds of looks including magnetized swirl effects, nail art and even fuzzy nails. But forward-thinking fashionistas need to know what’s in store for us come Spring/Summer 2014, right?
In a word: variety (yay! I love options). NYFW nail trends ran the gamut from sunny oranges to barely there hues. And yes, there’s still nail art . . . more subtle, but nail art nonetheless.
Thanks to the variety, there’s a look for everyone. So what’s in store for us come Spring/Summer 2014? Drum roll, please…
The New York Fashion Week Nail Trends
1. Subtle Nail Art.
Whew. I was happy to see the trend didn’t fade away. It just got a kind of mani-makeover.
Get out that steady hand and get into stripes. Some models wore a few lines across the tip of a solid colored nail. Others stepped out in tic-tac-toe creativity. Typically, the look featured thin black lines over a white/creamy base.
In a few instances, models’ digits donned a more conservative style, including beige and white half-moon designs.

Some models paired “Don’t Pretzel my Buttons” (OPI) with a white half-moon effect.
2. Subtle Hues
Get ready to bat those eyelashes. Ladylike sheers, pale pinks and sandy tones were a common NYFW nail trend.

Pale shades also ruled the runways. Here, a model wears OPI nail color “I Theodora You.”

3. Bold & Unique Color, Classic Application
Orange nails (along with lots of orange lip colors) rocked NYFW runways. So did more unique shades with earthy gray tones. What we liked about this nail trend was the simplicity. Ah, back to the basics: pick a color, glide on a couple of coats, and call it a day!
