What: French Connection is shaking things up with their 2010 Autumn/Winter collections (but not their prices).
What They Say: The new autumn/winter collection takes inspiration from birds, feathers, wings and flowing pieces that makes a woman feel free. The focus is on details such as bows, sequins, drapes, frills, and luxurious buttons. As the season progresses the focus turns to the sophistication of the 1940’s with old Hollywood glamour girls as inspiration.
What We Say: Our heads were nodding up and down at the creative use of birds and feathers. The collection updated last seasons trendy shapes like harem cuts and balloon hems that can only be worn by folks with little to no junk in their trunks, with the use of metallic and printed silk. If you’re the kind of girl that doesn’t like too much sparkle or shine (and FC loves the shiny), don’t worry, the collection offered an abundance of military inspired coats and boots to keep you comfortable and looking cute. They didn’t slouch on the accessories either. The collections were filled with sequin clutches, studded belts, and shiny patent leather totes. We think the autumn/winter collection had hints of 40’s glamour, but, felt like the line also targeted the young and edgy hipster type of girl.
