Cranberry vodka is a delicious and refreshing addition to cocktails any time of year. The vodka is easy to make and takes on a festive ruby red color.
How to Make Cranberry Vodka
You will need:
1 bottle regular vodka
12 oz fresh cranberries
3/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract or 1 whole vanilla bean, split
To make: Stir together cranberries, sugar and vanilla in a medium saucepan on medium heat. Simmer the mixture until the berries start to burst, about 5-6 minutes. Remove pan from heat and mash berries with a fork.
Divide the mixture in half and pour into two large, clean canning jars. Pour vodka into the jars, just enough so that the berries are covered. Place lids on jars and let sit for 1 week. After a week, strain out the cranberries by pouring the mixture through cheesecloth or a strainer. Store the vodka in a clean jar or pitcher in the refrigerator.
Enjoy cranberry vodka mixed with seltzer or sparkling water and a splash of orange juice.
