I’m always cold. ALWAYS. COLD. But…
I hate wool (seriously. I believe wool is evil), so I’m always looking for stylish, non-wool, things to keep me warm. And while sweaters (that don’t contain my mortal enemy) are truly warm, for some reason I don’t have very many in my closet. So when the wonderful folks at Chaps sent me a few sweaters from their fall/winter 2012 line, I said “why not”. So I tested whether warmth and style were mutually exclusive and found out the following.
Kathryn’s Finally Gets Warm with a Shawl Collar Cable Knit Sweater from Chaps at Kohls
The Look: Chaps sent me two versions of the cable knit sweater- one in black and the other in red. I selected to style the black sweater because I had a pencil length leather skirt that I dropped some coin to purchase last year that I really wanted to wear this year.
The fact that the Chap sweaters cost less than $60 bucks (you can find them for even less in store), made it the perfect partner for the skirt. I was pleasantly surprised (and a bit annoyed) that I had lost about 15 pounds since last fall,so the skirt was a bit big (off the tailors).
I really liked the shawl collar, rather than a straight v or crew neck neckline. I like to show a bit of cleavage as well as show off my necklace collection (the necklace I’m wearing in the photo I purchased from the now closed Betsey Johnson store at the Caramillo Outlets in Southern Cal). The long-sleeved cable-knit sweater and its shawl collar is classy enough to wear at work, but cozy-looking enough for after-office drinks downtown.
I do wish it was a tad bit longer for those of us who are a bit more blessed in the chest area. It can take a bit more fabric to cover the girls.
The Feel: First let me say, that it’s not made of wool. So the sweater automatically gets extra points for that. The sweater is made of a cotton/acrylic blend that gives it a very soft feel, which I appreciate. Also it’s roomy enough to layer with a turtleneck or just a long sleeve t-shirt to provide additional warmth (and yes, it’s warm).
The Price: This sweater retails for $59.50 at Kohl’s, but is available at a super-slashed price of just $23.80. With that, make sure to grab this item for yourself (or a friend) before it’s gone!
The Verdict: A definite yeah! Check out Chaps sweaters on sale right now at Kohl’s.
