Let’s get one thing straight—there’s something about a boot that’s going to keep your feet warm and giving you some traction that means it’s not going to be as sleek and super chic as we might like. However, for many of us in colder climates, the winter boot becomes a necessity at some point, but who wants to spend a fortune? We’ve compiled these options that walk the fine line between practical and cute, while going easy on the bottom line. And remember—if you pick up something leather or suede, you’ll definitely want to buy a protective silicone spray to keep the elements from ruining your wise investment.

If you really need to keep warm on the weekends, this tall style fromJcPenney " href="http://www3.jcpenney.com/jcp/X6.aspx?DeptID=53327&CatID=53413&GrpTyp=PRD&ItemID=12af6b1&attrtype=&attrvalue=&CmCatId=53327|53328|53413 "> JcPenney
might do the trick, on sale now for $34.99
Note: I also found a cute pair of brown “suede” boots with surprisingly decent-looking faux fur trim at Wal-Mart (there were a few cute pairs actually) though they’re not online. It might be worth a stop, though, since prices were all under $30. I’ve worn mine in the slush and snow (after spraying them, of course) a couple of times now—they’re super warm and they look great with jeans.
