Cold Weather Boots on a Budget

Let’s get one thing straight—there’s something about a boot that’s going to keep your feet warm and giving you some traction that means it’s not going to be as sleek and super chic as we might like. However, for many of us in colder climates, the winter boot becomes a necessity at some point, but who wants to spend a fortune? We’ve compiled these options that walk the fine line between practical and cute, while going easy on the bottom line. And remember—if you pick up something leather or suede, you’ll definitely want to buy a protective silicone spray to keep the elements from ruining your wise investment.

Slouchy boots with a cute wedge heel, lined, with non-slip tread, from Maxine of Canada, on sale for $49.89 at

Faux fur trim, and that practical wedge heel, from LaRedoute, $69.99

If you like that “Ugg” type styling—and some do—try this budget option, with a little embellishment, at Forever 21, for $24.80.

If you really need to keep warm on the weekends, this tall style from JCPenney might do the trick, on sale now for $34.99

Note: I also found a cute pair of brown “suede” boots with surprisingly decent-looking faux fur trim at Wal-Mart (there were a few cute pairs actually) though they’re not online. It might be worth a stop, though, since prices were all under $30. I’ve worn mine in the slush and snow (after spraying them, of course) a couple of times now—they’re super warm and they look great with jeans.

I have been a dedicated believer in Aerosoles. I stand on my feet doing hair all day and these are the best shoes/ boots ever. They keep me comfy all day and look fabulous. I love them!

I also like winter boots, but my legs are so thin it is hard for me to find boots that fit properly around my calfs.
