What: Boden’s tween line Johnnie B. gave TBF a sneak peek at their 2010 Fall collection. Just in time for back to school.
What We Say: The Johnnie B. Fall collection was filled with fun pieces like heart and star shaped printed skirts and dresses. We liked the striped cropped sweaters, pea coats, and a red wool toggle jacket. One major surprise was a leather motorcycle jacket that was a little pricey for a growing tween but, definitely would get a few cool points with the mean girls at school. With so many young girls trying to look older than what they are or dress sexier than they should be, it was a bit refreshing to see that young girls had the options of fun girly little dresses, non tight soft knit sweaters, blazers, and jeans that don’t show the color of your underwear.
We thought some of the pricing was questionable. Why pay $80 for a chunky sweater that you can get at Old Navy for $30. The collection was not that different from brands like Aeropostale or American Eagle. However, it did offer a variety of trendy pieces that we think moms wouldn’t mind their daughters wearing. To be totally honest, we were looking at a couple of pieces for ourselves. Age ain’t nothing but a number.
