Best Stockings on a Budget: Reader Advice

January 15, 2008

Sure, we know stockings and pantyhose aren’t the wardrobe staple they once were, but there’s still a need (cold weather, church, no-time-to-shave days) for a good pair or two in your lingerie drawer. Drugstore brands are sometimes disappointing, but who wants to spend a fortune on an item that, no matter how scientifically engineered it is, could snag and run at any moment?

Angela’s found that Victoria’s Secret are reasonably pretty and durable for a not-too-shocking price (the thigh-highs pictured here, for example, retail for $12.50 per pair).

Now it’s your turn—what’s your pick for favorite budget-friendly stocking?

TJMaxx is the best place I know of to get good quality hosiery for cheap, cheap, cheap.  You can get Calvin Klein pantyhose for $3-$4!

welovecolors.com/Shop/NylonOpaqueTights.htm has a great selection of colors and the tights are amazingly durable, all for only $8.

I also buy dance tights, for the durability factor, but additionally because I’m tall and I know that I’ll be able to find the size that I need without the crotch of the tights ending up at my knees. DiscountDance.com is the place to look for them online and most pairs are under $10.

Got to get dance tights – they are a little more expensive but last so much longer unless you’re going to be dancing in them of course.
