Best Self-Tanning Products on a Budget: Reader Advice

| April 8, 2008 11:00 PM | Posted in

As we’re starting to slip into more skirts and sandals, the question of sun-deprived winter skin is on our minds. We’re not talking porcelain here—we’re talking pasty. Of course, we know that the sun is not our friend—so if we want a little glow we’re all about the self-tanner, but our experience has not always been pleasant—orange, streaky, or no results at all. We do enjoy our Jergen’s Natural Glow moisturizer, especially the skin firming variety, which gives does double duty of subtly tanning and toning, for less than $7 a tube. The result is not dramatic, however, which has us wondering—anyone else have a favorite self-tanning product that won’t leave us tapped out?

Try Neutrogena Build a Tan for a more noticeable fake bake.  It’s a gradual tanner so it’s impossible to streak or look orange, but it give more color than the moisturizer/tanners.  And for those, I recommend Dove.  It doesn’t have the awful smell that Jergens does.
