Yes, this set is edging up into splurgy territory at $159. But they’re so fun! A soft gold is the perfect backdrop for those galloping zebras, which offer a nice change of pace from the usual snake and leopard prints.

Sweet in baby blue

This pretty blue silk nightdress makes me want to curl up with Wuthering Heights and sip tea. In the morning, I imagine anyone wearing this would literally float out of bed and down the hall to make coffee. More practically speaking, it has no waistband, which means no tugging at night.

Easygoing in shorts

A shorts set offers less coverage, but a lower price point too. This cute two-piece set is available in five color choices, including claret as shown, charcoal purple, and champagne. It’s also sexy enough to double as “something more comfortable” if you know what I mean ;).

Double duty top

If you really can’t get your brain around dropping $100 on silk pajamas, there is another option. Try a silk pajama top that can work as streetwear or lounge wear. This piece from Lucky Brand is exactly that. Full disclosure: it has buttons, which means you may not want to sleep in it. But you could certainly get your luxury fix in by lounging around the house in it.

Caring for Your Silks

If you invest in silk PJs, make sure you know how to care for them. Sadly, you can’t just throw them in the washer. Some silks can be hand-washed and others are dry-clean only. If the label says “dry clean only,” don’t risk a hand-wash. It’ll likely ruin your expensive piece.

To hand-wash silk garments, start with a small spot test using a mild detergent. Make sure the color doesn’t run and the feel of the fabric doesn’t change. If the spot test is successful, start by pre-soaking the piece in a mix of water and 1/4 cup vinegar for 30 minutes.

Then toss the garment in your bathtub with cool water and gentle detergent. Let it soak for up to 30 minutes.

Remove it and gently press between two clean towels to remove excess water. Don’t wring it out. You can hang it gently on a drying rack or dry it flat. If it dries with wrinkles, iron on the lowest setting.

I love the maggie silk PJs! It's like class and comfort in a budget-friendly price. Will definitely get one. Thanks for the idea Catherine!
