This week we’re counting down to the opening of the Sex and the City Movie, which hits theaters (finally!) this Friday, May 30th – but you already knew that, didn’t you? What better way to celebrate the reunion of Carrie and the gang than by getting together with your girls and grabbing a Cosmo (or two…)? Such an occasion also requires a fab new ‘do. Here, we showcase four easy-peasy new looks inspired by those worn by the SATC ladies in the film – and unlike their designer wardrobes, you can pull of these styles without breaking the bank.
The Carrie
While Ms. Bradshaw seems to be a busy girl throughout the film – changing wardrobes, hairstyles, and quite possibly her stance on marriage at the drop of a (Philip Treacy, bird-shaped) hat – we like this chic half-up, half-down pony. It’s unpretentious and breezy meets high-fashion, kinda like Carrie herself. To get the look yourself: apply a wave-encouraging spray like Sunsilk Waves of Envy Sea Mist, around $4 at drugstore.com, to create texture. Next section hair, pulling the top half back into a ponytail at the middle of your crown. If you need more oomph, backcomb the underlying hair (as gently as possible) and scrunch through with fingers. Finish with a mist of light-hold hair spray on the front of your mane to keep flyaways at bay.
The Charlotte
We love Charlotte because she’s a girl after our own heart: she hasn’t really changed up her hairstyle in the six years since we watched her on SATC; leaving the drastic color and cut changes to style chameleon Carrie. Why? Because she knows what works for her – and with hair this gorgeous, why mess with perfection? Get Charlotte’s soft, feminine look by applying a lightweight volumizer, then blow-drying hair with a round brush for smoothness. Finish by wrapping just the ends of hair around a wide-barrel curling iron and spritzing with a light finishing mist like Charles Worthington Full Volume Lift Off Ultrafine Hairspray, $5.99, at Ulta.
The Samantha
We’re kind of in love with Samantha’s haircut. It manages to be no-nonsense and totally sexy at the same time. The key is to avoid overly-blunt ends (stick-straight hair can just look lifeless) and add layers throughout hair to encourage a bit of movement and texture. Try using a bit of styling wax or texturizer on ends after flat-ironing to get her coveted piece-y look. We like Sally Hershberger Supreme Head Shagg Spray, $12.49, at .
The Miranda
We don’t think we’ve ever seen Ms. Hobbes look better than in this still from the movie – her soft pin-curls and gorgeous color evoke a glam 1940s starlet. She also showcases one of this season’s biggest trends – hair accessories as part of eveningwear. Whatever your hair length, add a bit of sparkle to your mane with a few well-placed rhinestone bobby pins or clips. 3-stone bobby pins, $14.50, at .

As a baldish recent cancer patient, I would like a feature on Samantha’s fabulous wigs, please :)
I think I identify the best with Charlotte - I just wish my hair was naturally beautiful like hers - I have to work hard to get it to look like that!
Since I have dark brown hair, I wish I could copy Charlotte’s look. I’ve envied her hair since the show started. It’s the hair of a Disney princess or something. I think my hair is too thin to copy the look, though.
I heard the premiere for SITC was a complete and utter disaster..There has so much hype about this movie..hope it lives up to its expectations.
People expect so much out of a project and put it on such a high pedestal that they are let down when it is average-alright, but not as bad as they say
