American Living Holiday 2010 Preview

It’s that amazing time of year where we need to start thinking about the holidays and highly important things like what we’re going to wear when all the festivities begin. Office holiday parties abound, fancy feasts are on the calendar and well, it’s time to shop again, of course! As preparation for our yearly budget-friendly festive makeover we stopped by the American Living Holiday Preview to assess the goods.

Here’s what you’ll be seeing at JCPenney stores and the online shop:

AL is going big, or going home, when it comes to knitwear. There are going to be lots of cardigans and scoop neck sweaters featuring the thicker, cozy knit feel. Some of the sweaters in this collection are pretty basic but definitely attainable for a lower price than you would pay elsewhere.

One of our favorite knit pieces featuring AL’s new Navaho look. A black and red shawl cardigan with a striking pattern. Can’t you just imagine drinking some rich hot cocoa in this? It’ll keep you warm and cozy and looking chic.

AL’s knit and Navaho trend also carried over into their bags with another one of our favorite items, a black and white sweater handbag. It’s cute, compact and frankly looks like you could have purchased it at a vintage shop.

We also saw a lot of dresses going on, featuring the faux-wrap trend, broaches, and deep saturated colors. Again, some of these were quite basic but we can’t look past the excellent pricing at AL where all the dresses are easily under $100. One standout piece was the black and white sheath dress with white piping that radiated class and reminded us of (style icon) Jackie O.

While the collection in its entirety was pretty much what you’d expect to see for the holidays, we were excited by a couple standout pieces and, of course, American Living’s fantastic value.

Thanks to the American Living people for gifting Suzanna the amazing sweater handbag! Happy holidays indeed.
