Yea or Nay: Acid Wash Jeans (what to buy Fall 2007?)

July 23, 2007

Continuing with the 80’s comeback in fashion, acid wash jeans are back and there’s nothing you can do about it except pop in a Duran Duran tape and break out the Conair crimp iron.

NAY!!!

Chicanduntroubled.com 2 July 23, 2007

I’m going to say nay..but its not a hell to the nay lol

GNIB 3 July 23, 2007

Nay! 80’s fashion comebacks have already had made their mark distinctly.  Skinny jeans, Flashdance shirts, etc…..but not this——no acid wash….it’s just simply hideous. That look is gone and should be left behind with our 80’s memories

Rhonda 4 July 23, 2007

YAY!!!! I knew there was only a matter of time before they came back; every 20 years right? I personally like the jeans. I like anything I can rock with my stilettos. And yes I’m still wearing those too! Bring on the eighties!

Deandrea 5 July 23, 2007

What’s the saying…

If you remember when something came around the first time, you shouldn’t wear it when it ocmes around again.

If you’re too advanced in age, and you wear these, you’ll just look like you’re wearing faded jeans.

christal 6 July 23, 2007

I don’t feel real good about this.  It reminds me of jr. high school, braces and jheri curls.

Rocki White 7 July 23, 2007

As Whitney Houston would say “Hell to the NAH!”

Cool 20 some-odd years ago. Bad now. Very, very, very bad.

JB 8 July 23, 2007

I never post on these blogs, I usually just lurk about but THIS stopped me dead in my tracks!

NAY! NAY! NAY! Acid washed jeans?  Are you kidding me?  I’m not a big fan of the 80’s “comeback” but these are hideous!  What next?  Hammer pants?

Kim 9 July 23, 2007

oh lord not acid wash.

Becky 10 July 23, 2007

NAY!!!  I may have braces again, but that doesn’t mean that I need to also DRESS like I did back in high school and college.

suz 11 July 23, 2007

They’re no worse than they were last time.

Interesting that the sample TBF shows has that super-short rise (the fly zipper can’t be much more than 3 inches) still.

jj 12 July 23, 2007

Nay for me personally.  I like a nice dark wash, even the “dry” (untreated) jeans that you see sometimes these days.

But unlike the ripped and thrashed finished jeans, or crocs, at least they don’t make others into an eyesore.  I imagine they’d even look cute when worn by teenagers who were too young to see the first round of the trend.

budget babe 13 July 23, 2007

YAY! i guess these depend on your personality, but i sport the rocker-chic look quite often, so im thrilled

smarter fashion 14 July 23, 2007

It’s just one of those things.  Right now,  I’m saying nay, but once my eyes get used to the acid wash, I’ll be saying yay along with Rhonda.

Michele 15 July 23, 2007

NAY! Are you kidding me? No one over the age of 12 should be wearing low-rise jeans let alone acid wash. I guess “Miami Vice” is next. Or mesh vests. Or how about Duran Duran hair? As Celine Dion sings, “It’s all coming back to me now …” I just wish my “selective memory” would kick in. I lived the 1980s, I don’t care to revisit it. Are these designers insane? Oh, wait. They’re not old enough to remember it the first time around. DUH!

Chris 16 July 23, 2007

Oh hell NO!

Amy 17 July 23, 2007

Nay for me personally. But Yay for young, hip and trendy. Hard to believe the stuff I wore in high school is old enough to warrant revival. I would love to see a return of the big, slouchy “Forenza” sweaters from The Limited.

Kian 18 July 23, 2007

Acid wash jeans sucked the first time around and I managed to live through the entire 80’s without owning a pair. I don’t see that changing now.

Duran Duran still rocks though.

cathy 19 July 23, 2007

Nay! I didn’t even like acid washed jeans in the 80s. Why do I have to be tortured by them again? Why?

ciara 20 July 23, 2007

Yay! lol I actually ordered these pants, then had to send them back because the fit was all wrong.  Then when I got the new pair they still didn’t fit so by this time I was pretty much over it.  Probably not a mistake on Urban Outfitter’s part, but more or less me thinking I can fit some tiny little jeans.  I’m an 80’s baby who was too young to actually revel in nonsense like this so I love it now!  If they go on sale anytime soon I’d be happy to buy them again…and in my size

Meg 21 July 23, 2007

Nay!  Nay!  Nay!

I am so ready for the 80’s to be over – again.

I say, keep with plain dark-wash jeans, mid-rise, boot cut or trouser cut, and plenty long.  They look great on just about everyone and won’t look dated next season or next year.

Ann 22 July 23, 2007

Big huge NAY then, big huge NAY now.

Danielle 23 July 23, 2007

NAY NAY NAY! Who the hell is bringing this look back?

Crisi 24 July 23, 2007

I’m thinking Nay!!! They’re Horrible…yet ppl will wear them and love them…

Claire 25 July 24, 2007

Nay!  I’m a teenager who was too young to remember them the first time, and I’d be just as happy not to see them the second time, either.  They’re heinous, end of story.

Material Girl 26 July 24, 2007

Only if you wear them ironically. If you don’t live in Billyburg or the like, NAY!

TBF 27 July 24, 2007

Amy…

I too would kill for a slouchy oversize “Forenza” sweater, I use to rock that shirt with a pair of blue leggings and a matching pair of BK Knights…

Amy 28 July 24, 2007

Nice!! I had a red v-neck and wore the h*ll out of it! When feeling really sassy I would wear it with the V dipping low in the back and my Guess? jeans that zipped at the ankle (I saved up MONTHS for those). I miss those days…

Tina 29 July 24, 2007

I think the ones in the picture aren’t so bad. Acid wash for tweens and younger I think is cute. I prefer acid wash to the grimy distressed I’ve seen that just looks like the jeans are moldy. I was too young to really experiance the 80’s style so maybe thats why I don’t find the acid wash appalling.

Tina 30 July 24, 2007

Holy Nike F’in Headband Nay!

Kim 31 July 23, 2007

We shouldn’t have worn them then, and we sure shouldn’t wear them now!

Toni 32 July 23, 2007

Nay! Some things weren’t meant to be brought back…this is one of them!

ab 33 July 25, 2007

yay for this style.  looks ok to me.

Jennifer 34 July 25, 2007

I’m going to have to go with a big, fat, juicy “NAY”. Thanks.

Deva 35 August 1, 2007

Yay. From the picture they look ok to wear, especially when relaxing and just going grocery shopping, to the movies (nobody can see you in there anyway), putt-putting, taking your kids to the park, or to a fast food joint. Some people enjoy a bit of nostalgia. But I wouldn’t want to pay $68 for those unless there were something else about them that would entice me to purchase at that price.

amanda 36 August 11, 2007

Yay! i’m going to be rocking the acid washed skinny jeans… for sure.

homey48 37 June 3, 2009

The look is so 80’s. Iam afraid the look is dead!

Buffy 38 January 20, 2010

My sister is having an 80′s birthday party and I would love to have these jeans ASAP. Where can I purchase these. I love being different. Divas don’t follow everybody else… they set trends!
