What: Next time you go out for the night, don’t put your hair down—don a fancy pony instead.
What the experts say: Sleek, pretty ponytails were worn by the models in the spring Diane Von Furstenberg and Carolina Herrera runway shows, according to the February 2008 issue of Shape magazine: “The humble tail can now by your go-to style for evening, too.
What we say: We’re glad to hear ponytails aren’t simply synonymous with toddlers and bad hair days at the moment. The trick to keeping it from looking like you just came from yoga class is to glam it up a bit. Celebrity stylist Frederic Fekkai suggests wrapping a thin piece of hair from your ponytail around the elastic band to conceal it and secure it with a bobby pin. Then, run a dime-size drop of styling cream over tail and mist your entire head with a glossing spray (try Charles Worthington London Results Brilliant Shine Hairspray for $5.99). With your hair out of your way, you can focus on more important things . . . like just about everything else.
