Spa Week: Budget Spa Treatments

Spa Week 2009

What: Every year, spas around the US (and Canada, too), collaborate for Spa Week. Each spa offers up a selection of luxurious treatments for cheap (well, relatively speaking). For 2009, Spa Week is April 13th to 19th. But don’t wait to book… appointments fill up fast. Find out what spas are participating on SpaWeek.com and then call up a nearby spa and set up your $50 massage, manicure, facial, or bikini wax.

What We Say: Everyone needs a little pampering every now and then - especially if you’re attending or starring in a spring wedding - and Spa Week is definitely the time to indulge. But don’t get your hopes way up. Not all spas participate and each spa chooses what treatments they mark down to $50, so you’re not guaranteed an awesome deal - who cares if your local spa’s giving $60 pedicures for $50? You may have to look around for a little while before you find a steal, but it could be worth it, particularly if you’re the spa going type.

When having a massage at a spa, be sure you really know your body. I had one and was sick for 3 days afterward because it was too intense a massage and it released too many toxins into my system.  Tell the massage giver if you have Fibromyalsia or some other condition that requires a gentler touch.

going to an institute saves BIG BUCKS! i went to the aveda institute that just opened their spa services and got 50% off a facial that included a massage. i paid $20 for it and it was heavenly! the haircuts there are amazing too. they dont let the students screw up at aveda. i DEFINATELY recommend it!
